Congratulations to UNIDEL Professor of Mathematical Sciences L. Pamela Cook who has been elected
president-elect of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics
(SIAM) as of January 1, 2015. She will begin a two-year term as SIAM president on January 1, 2015,
succeeding Irene Fonseca. Prof. Cook served as SIAM vice president for
publications in 2012 and 2013, she is a SIAM Fellow (class of 2009).
SIAM (the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics) has over
13,000 individual members worldwide. The community of members include
applied and computational mathematicians, computer scientists, numerical
analysts, engineers and statisticians .
SIAM's institutional members number close to 500 and include academic,
industrial, consulting, government, and military organizations.. To
serve this diverse group of professionals, in addition to holding an
annual meeting as well as many specialized conferences, SIAM publishes
16 peer-reviewed research journals and approximately 25 books per year.
