For graduate students who are interested in pursuing MPI research, we offer the MPI Graduate Fellowship. This competitive fellowship comes with a $6,000 stipend to be used for the remaining months of the summer immediately following the Workshop, or perhaps in the fall should the students already be committed to research activity during the summer. The graduate students selected may be from any U.S. university, and may be mentored by any faculty/industrial Workshop participant combination. Unless the faculty mentor is the student’s Ph.D. advisor, a letter of commitment should be solicited from the advisor guaranteeing the student’s availability to pursue the research for the fellowship. It is expected that the research will lead to a published paper on the problem brought to the Workshop.
Fellowship applications should include
- A brief proposal including a project description and timeline.
- A letter of support from the MPI mentor.
- A letter of support from the student's advisor.
- A letter of support from the industrial presenter including a commitment to support student travel to and from the industrial site if this is a necessary part of the project.
Applications should be sent to Prof. Rossi (rossi@math.udel.edu) by July 10, 2015.
