Welcome to the homepage of the GEMS Project. Made possible by a grant from the University of Delaware's Provost Office, under the "Graduate Program Improvement and Innovation Grants" project, the GEMS Project aims to provide graduate students with the opportunity to become involved in mathematical research early in their graduate careers. In addition, participating graduate students will gain valuable experience serving as mentors to undergraduate researchers.
The program is open to graduate students in the mathematical sciences who are in their first year of studies at UD. The program provides a stipend of $6000 for a ten-week committment during the summer following your first year of classes. Applications must be filed by interested graduate students and are due on March 2, 2012. GEMS projects will begin on June 4, 2012 and end on August 10, 2012. Details concerning the application process may be found by following the links above.
Our schedule for this summer is below. Please check back for updates. Note that we will meet weekly in Ewing 336. Other events will be added to this schedule as they are confirmed. Abstracts for the final symposium are due on 8/3/12. They should be sent electronically to Professor Driscoll.
