If you are happy with your result and have reached your placement goal:

here

Congratulations! Your placement score has been sent to Admissions; it generally takes about 48 hours for the score to be recorded. It is a good idea to note your score and your placement level goal for your own information.

Your adviser can now enroll you in the appropriate math course for your major program during or before NSO (New Student Orientation).

If you have only used one attempt on the placement exam, you can continue to review and try for a better grade. Many students change majors, so it is a good idea to try your best.

If you have completed two assessments, you can continue to review and take the third (and last) placement assessment.  Again, it is important to complete the entire placement process at this time.

If you have completed three assessments and attained your placement goal, you have completed the placement program.

If you are not happy with your result:

Make sure to take all three assessments.

There are several requirements for accessing the second assessment:

  • You must work on a review program for five hours
  • You must wait 48 hours to take the second assessment.

Suggestions:

  • Choose your review program carefully. You will have to choose between "Prep and Learning Module for Precalculus" or "Prep and Learning Module for Calculus". If you want to take calculus, choose the "Prep and Learning Module for Calculus". If you want to take precalculus, choose the "Prep and Learning Module for Precalculus".
  • Do not concentrate on the "lower level skills". Work on the "higher level skills". It will not improve your grade to practice arithmetic skills.

There are several requirements for accessing the third assessment:

  • You must work on a review program for 10 hours.
  • You must wait 48 hours between assessments.

If you have taken three assessments, your placement is complete. Your placement level should accurately reflect your math knowledge. If you did not achieve your placement goal, discuss your options with your adviser.

If you are not sure about your result:

If you have not yet attained your placement goal, make sure to continue the placement process. You can access at most three placement assessments. Keep in mind you must review (five hours for the second assessment and 10 hours for the third assessment) before you can take these additional assessments.

From your college and major, you can determine your placement goal by clicking here.
